Here I am riding my hero Brian Campeau
I have been quite busy with an awesome artist called Montaigne.
We've been doing a bunch of shows (and a bunch more to come)
The band is really fun - the music is great - everyone in the touring party seems to think I have the best jokes. It's great!
Her new song Clip My WIngs is out now and I banged on them drums for it : )
here she is with an apple core i placed on her bag
I went over to the USA for a holiday.
I wanted to meet a bunch of my heroes before they passed, and I wanted to check out the music scene there.
It was a very eye opening experience!
I did meet a few of my heroes and chatted on the phone with a bunch of them.
Hearing Jim Keltner play live was a mighty experience.
Also, hearing Jim Black and Mark Guiliana play in little rooms in NYC was a beautiful thing!
I bought a bunch of percussion stuff, and I also bought a guitar amp!
It's a Bronson. Made by Valco, this one is dated to 1950!
It's been way toooooo long between updates on my website.
I have now set it up as a blog type thing (much easier to update)
Here is a picture of me with my hero Jim Keltner
I have been working on developing my own vocabulary for 'comping' in the jazz and improvised music areas.
At the moment, I am working on permutations of simple rhythms spread around the limbs - whilst to type, it was easy, it is quite difficult to acheive.
The goal is to be able to freely improvise with a simple rhythm and three permutations of it spread over all 4 limbs.
Some excellent conversations with Simon Barker have spurred on my desire to generate a unique sound on the drumset.

My new album Indoor Cowboy (with me playing the guitar!) is out now.
We had an excellent launch at Foundry 616 on July the 1st.
With Hamish Stuart on drums, Adam Pringle on guitars, and a special guest (filling in for Brett Hirst) Jonathon Zwartz on the double bass.
You can get it here (Physical and download) and it will be available on iTunes shortly.
Now that this project is done, I can get back to playing the drums!
In November 2013, I set myself the challenge of recording an album, with me playing guitar, playing my own songs.
As someone who could only fiddle my way around the instrument at that point, this was a large load of work to take on!
After a few months of experimenting and doing a fair bit of shedding, I was ready!
I assembled some of my favourite musicians in the world: Hamish Stuart - drums, Brett Hirst - double bass and Adam Pringle - Guitar
We tracked for a day with Richard Belkner at Free Energy Device studios in Camperdown, Sydney.
I had a lot of fun, and I think the results are great - it will be released as an album soon!
I now have a website.
In this "NEWS" section, I will try to document the happenings and the thoughts of my current work state
Here is me wearing Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges' hat!
